THE POKEMON AU MEME |
01. post characters + preferences 02. also include at least a vague idea of what your character's doing + their team (if you're feeling ambitious) - see here! 03. wreck some shit but don't be dicks ooc |
i'm not writing up prompts bc i'm a lazyass, but places to start: running into someone on your bike! long-running pokemon contest rivals stuck at the same table making poffins! lost in some god-forsaken cave and surrounded by zubats! challenging a gym! surprise, your childhood bff is a member of team plasma? who knows, go nuts. |
as usual, drop top-levels with or without a starter, or let me know if you want someone in particular and i will provide!! if you want kalos sprites btw this guy has them all here. |
masamune hongo | daiya no a | ota
he and furuya are childhood friends but if you say furuya's name in front of him he gets grumpier than usual.
his signature pokemon is toru the ursaring, and the gym is technically ice, so his battle team is only the four ice-types from his team, which can be found below:
there's a smoochum at home that Loves Masamune but he kind of pretends that's not a thing, lmfao. can often be found in trees reading something or other with toru when he's not at the gym, temple or otherwise around town. ]
i'm sorry if this is a mess
He'd become fast friends with Masamune when he arrived at the trainer's school and they bonded over raising their bears; Furuya's Cubchoo and later Beartic would always be Ma-kun. Then the rumors started. Furuya's Beartic is an Ice Type but Masamune's Ursaring is Normal. Masamune must not want the gym leadership, or so people said. It couldn't have been further from the truth, but suddenly his fellow students would turn him down for battles, not wanting to encourage the kid with the bad habits as a leader in their community. When he felt the tension spreading to his relationship with Masamune, turning something he'd depended on into a rivalry, Furuya knew it was time to leave.
He also knows there's only one place in the world he wants to bring his Eevee back to for his evolution. Furuya's not sure if he wants to be able to get to and from the Ice Rock completely undetected or not, but he's sure word must have gotten north by now that there's a trainer with a Beartic that looks awfully familiar. In turn, he's heard about Masamune's success at the gym in Snowpoint City, but going all that way just to challenge him, just to see if things have changed... troublesome.]
it's not............... unlike their relationship
furuya had left snowpoint (left him) behind, like a coward, when things got tough. masamune is a king on a cold mountaintop, and coming down off the mountain is an avalanche thundering down on anyone in the way. (except the old ladies bundled up in the town square, who have a better location on furuya by virtue of their massive and terrifying old biddy network and don't answer well to being shaken down, probably because at least three of them have changed his diapers.)
if furuya - if satoru - wants to get near the ice rock that bad, then so be it, but masamune is waiting for him, ursaring towering just behind him. the look on his face could melt an entire blizzard, by the looks of it. ]

It's a surprise, really. He hadn't even realized he was on his friend's radar that way. Furuya'd been so focused on the sense of rejection from the other students at the school that the fact that this could have been a part of his friendship with Masamune never even occurred to him. He'd just run from it instead, assuming Masamune (not Hongo anymore, not with this kind of distance) would turn away from him as well. Having him be the unofficial welcoming committee, then, is startling.
He wants this, though, and he wants to keep going north on 217 if he can. If it'll be permitted. Furuya comes toward the Ice Rock but stops, hands in his pockets, and regards Masamune. How will this begin?
His Beartic is less reserved, however, immediately starting to approach Masamune's Ursaring. It's been so long since they've seen each other, after all.]
Ma-kun. No.

he takes the lead instead. frowning, he looks furuya up and down. whatever he sees doesn't seem to please him, and the crease in his brow deepens. ]
You didn't think you'd get to come sneak around up here without me hearin' about it, did you?
no subject
No, but I didn't think you'd come out of Snowpoint to do anything about it.

the part of masamune that judges trainers (and finds them wanting, nine times of ten) is also a little proud - of finally standing face-to-face with a challenger who doesn't cower.
if traveling helped him grow, then maybe it wasn't all bad. if he thinks of satoru as no one important, just another challenger, then - it'd be nice, if he could. but professionalism, when satoru furuya is across from him, has never quite been in his grasp. ]
Well, you won't stop by, so I thought I'd do it for you. And the town's got nothing to do with - this. [ he's avoiding saying it, isn't he? ] With you and me.
[ 'us' isn't the word he wants to use. there is no 'us', not any more. ] You want to use the Ice Rock. [ it's not a question. ]

There's nothing wrong with Masamune knowing he hit home with that comment as long as Furuya doesn't weaken because of it, and he has no intention of that happening.]
The world is bigger than that. I never said I wasn't coming back. [To Sinnoh. To Snowpoint. To they gym and Masamune.] I'm still not saying that.
[He just nods about the Ice Rock, though. Technically Masamune has no claim to it, but neither of them have any use for technicalities. Never have and certainly don't now.]
