cat in the rain.  
[ The rainstorm is unexpected! Hummy doesn't care about weather forecasts, so she'd been completely unprepared for a sudden downpour. Thankfully, Hummy's small and cute, and has managed to find somewhere dry until the worst of it was over.

Things have, by now, settled into a steady drizzle, warm enough that it's no problem for a small cat as she looks at her reflection in puddles and hums her way around the worst of them.

There's one outside one of the big, glitzy stores she's not interested in, however, that gets her attention. It's deep enough to definitely be a satisfying splash, but not deep enough she can't see the bottom, which is good because anything deep enough for that is a little distressing.

With a wiggle of her butt she settles into a crouch, and with a cheer she pounces.

The splash is definitely satisfying. For Hummy, anyway. ]

magical girl crossover time  
[ Of all the things Setsuna had thought returning to Clover Town was going to give her, a chance to dance with the rest of Clover at an indie dance festival in Tokyo hadn't been on the list. But Miyuki had gotten them a spot after another group had to drop out, and Setsuna - and the rest of Clover - weren't about to turn such a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Being an indie dance festival meant word of mouth advertising needed to be done, and word of mouth advertising in Tokyo meant fliers. The fliers had been divided between everyone participating, which puts Setsuna in Azabu-juban, smiling at passerby and holding out the colorful flier. ] Please come see the Annual Tokyo Dance Fest!

Nabe, c'mon... [ don't pout, he doesn't say, because he has enough self-preservation not to. he does, however, rest his hand at the small of nabe's back and lean around him with his most winning smile. ]

I was kidding! [ kind of, anyway. never mind that he does this all the time. any time someone comments that nori and nabe are looking suspiciously close, he just nods along and lets it go until they're (mostly) alone. (kuramochi being around counts as mostly alone, whatever he might say about it.) the visual - nabe and nori smiling at each other - always makes his heart thump a little. if going after nori meant giving up the best thing that's ever happened to him, he wouldn't do it, but if it didn't - if he could, somehow, have both - then, well. he's been handed a miracle or two in his life before.

thankfully, his reputation for being a shithead protects him from suspicion at times like this! or something. ]

[summer numbers. a year ago it seemed like an impossibility, a mirage he'd have no part of, their age still waiting in the wings as they followed the backs of their seniors, the other front-runners who walked before them like giants.

hisashi doesn't have a number in his hands, and at first that had hurt, a lot. he still feels brittle and hollow, all those months of toil bringing nothing but a scorebook in the dugout and no chance at bat, when he thinks about it, but it's never been just about him. the team means too much to him to be angry with his teammates, instead of himself.

and when nori is finally wearing the one hisashi knew he could take, that's their age standing on stage, their giant walking among them.

it's getting late in the evening when he finds nori, sun down and the team scattering to dorm rooms. it takes him five minutes of peeking around before he follows his instincts and passes through the cafeteria to the opposite exit. there. ] Nori. [ he moves carefully into his space, hands linked in front of himself casually. ] Don't stay up too late, ace. [ he smiles, and there's honesty in it. ]

it's getting to be that time of year: pumpkins, crunchy leaves, creepy guys in masks with large bladed weapons killing people... and ghosts, of course.

and where there are ghosts, there are haunted houses.

01. halloween horror nights: why would you pay that much money to get scared on purpose? here's your option for theme park-style terror.
02. test of courage: the neighborhood association's putting on a homemade traditional sort of haunted house in one of the local schools, but who cares about whatever fundraiser they're doing, someone just called you a chicken! (at least they'll let you go in pairs or trios if you want to.)
03. at home: wait, what was that noise? there's no one else home! except, maybe, the previous residents.
04. that sounds fake, but ok: poltergeists aren't real, obviously, but that's why you're around instead. time to set up a hilarious tripwire trap!
